Manning Great Lakes Tip Riders
Over the past decade a dedicated crew (and we mean dedicated - they've been known to keep the trails debris free with a leaf blower!) has crafted a web of brilliant, flowing trail that swoops and weaves through the tight Eucalypt forest. Simply put, the trails are superb - hardpacked (though greasy in the rain), bermed, with loads of jumps and some well-constructed built structures, including one huge see-saw!
There are even some big log rides and creative use of fallen trees to cross gullies and creeks. Occasional rock gardens and patches of moist, rooty rainforest will keep you on your toes, and some of the jumps have mandatory gaps so take care. But for the most part you can trust the flow of the trail and just enjoy the ride.
The trails are signposted making it easy to navigate, and there are some classic trail names - if you can find a local to explain some of them to you you're bound to crack up. Make sure you respect the trail builders, they've invested years of hard labour here, so don't go modifying any parts of the trail or structures, avoid skidding and leave the area cleaner than you found it!
