Review:
This park, cradles into the foot of Mt Wellington and it’s located at the end of Tolosa Street, about a 15-minute drive from the city centre. The village, with its view to the summit of Mount Wellington above, features dirt jumps, 4X, north shore (currently unfinished) and a trials area, while the cross-country and downhill tracks barrel away up the slopes from the main area.

The cross-country features three intersecting loops, allowing one larger circuit of around 9km. The simplest of the loops is a flat meander through burnt-out forest and grassland beside Knights Creek. It’s a nice warm-up before the coiling ascent onto the mountain – there are more hairpins here than at a CWA convention – topping out near the apex of the downhill track.

Technical features on the cross-country loops are few, but the winding descent is ribbed with tree roots, logs and rocks. Naturally, those wishing to mix it up or add some more technical challenge can return via the downhill course. The loops also intersect with a variety of fire trails, offering around 6km of additional cross-country riding.
